Now Is Far Far Away
Kambiz Khodabandeh was born in 1973 in Tehran. He has completed his studies in the field of painting and has participated in more than ten group exhibitions. He has held eight solo exhibitions in Iran and one solo exhibition in Oslo, Norway. For five years, Khodabandeh taught courses related to painting in Maulana and Shariati universities. His main focus in his works is on utopias and he has done his research on this topic for his thesis.
The following collection of artworks, are the artworks of an artist who despite his academic studies in painting, has adapted an intertextual approach between naïve art and fauvism. This spirit of escaping from the painting academic framework has created colors and lines that while having their own maturity are single layers. The utopias of Kambiz Khodabandeh are simple, unassuming and at the same time arrogant. Undoubtedly, the artist's personal inclinations towards cinema, especially the cinema of the 1940s and 1970s, has affected these artworks, and it seems that every corner of these cities are a movie plan running with the roles of his favorite characters.
He consciously avoids any system and principles and uses his pen with the hand of his pure inner intimacy and imagination, as the audience inevitably join his world and are immersed in the artist's mental state.
