The Abyss, The Being of Not Being

“Abyss” is the title pf Afrooz Hooshang’s second solo exhibition is Mojdeh Art Gallery.
“A Search with a Colorful Outcome”
Afrooz Hooshang has traversed the long path of calligraphy-painting in a unique way, yet he begins from the same point where others have also experienced their beginnings: benefiting from the liberation of modernism to re-envision a much-seen art and craft. This art, in the hands of great artists of the past, achieved the ultimate of its inherent potential, yielding an excellent and wondrous result, as if waiting for a fresh hand to stir it anew and set it in motion. The new wave depicted both a sharp, challenging, and disruptive form, as well as a gentle and enchanting form, and in each, it showcased noble and living examples... which it is still continuing, testing with minimal error.
A review of Afrooz Hooshang's career path is a look at this history:
From gentle, cautious, and respectful, to simple, concise, and approaching abstraction. It seems it took time for him to reach a deeper, purer, and more hidden element beyond the established and majestic appearance of traditional calligraphy, and to find and draw out the grace and delicacy of this fluid form. The latest works in his recent exhibition testify to a fresh search in this ancient, yet not so old field; a search with a colorful and delightful outcome that keeps me, who thought the experience of calligraphy-painting had reached the end of its usefulness and regeneration, looking forward to more works and other new, undiscovered artists.
