Under the Glass Ceiling
"Under the Glass Ceiling" is the title of Amirhossein Delbari's fourteenth solo sculpture exhibition, held in April-May 2019 at Mojdeh Art Gallery. The theme of the works in this exhibition, with a feminist focus, was dedicated to expressing the discrimination and limitations that women have always faced throughout history.
"Under the Glass Ceiling" is a story about women who have lived within narrow and often invisible frameworks throughout history. Despite countless efforts, sometimes weary and bewildered, they have become disillusioned with their society. Without realizing it, they have often found themselves trapped in stereotypes, ceilings, walls, barriers, and cages that have halted them on their path to success.
The term 'glass ceiling,' first coined in the Wall Street Journal in 1986, symbolizes the societal biases against women and the obstacles they face in reaching higher social positions. In fact, throughout history and in most parts of the world, women have encountered an invisible barrier that, although imperceptible, is a formidable obstacle preventing them from advancing in society and achieving their numerous aspirations.
This exhibition is a metaphorical representation of women's circumstances, which, by shedding light on the hidden aspects of their lives, invites the viewer to reconsider their perspective and challenges the stereotypes that we often take for granted in our daily lives.
