From the Stem is Azim Morakabatchi’s second solo exhibition in Mojdeh Art Gallery. In this exhibition a compilation of the artworks of drawing and painting by Morakabatchi are placed together in a unique arrangement.
Overwhelmed by the world and beyond the horizon
With a brief reference to what I read.
Next to the abyss, with a strange depth
takes a step
a small step
And releases me with only one strike.
In a tiny moment, I am completely overwhelmed by the world.
As if I have been by my side before.
Slowly looking for it
And
Such a beginning.
I finally find it and break free from my mild bondage.

In Azim Morakabatchi’s works, simple, every day and sometimes complicated situations, as well as dreams and nightmares, are transformed into dramatic scenes, and it is through this transformation that his symbols, metaphors and visual allegories are made.
His visual expression in connection with the theater is like a scene from a play that is frozen in the moment, but through the exchange of visual expression and theatrical staging, a kind of movement can be identified and followed, and this movement causes a kind of transformation and movement of time in the painting. In the scale of painting, Azim is like a writer, dramaturge and director who imagines his frames, sets and lights, and creates a mise-en-scène and movement image for each actor, and it is in this way he puts several expressions together in the painting, hence, the painting is not only the arena of the image, but it also becomes an arena for sound, light, movement and play, and this way meaning is created in continuous trading and practice and repetition in the use of cross-media elements.
