Hossein Mahjoubi

Hossein Mahjoubi was born in 1930 in Lahijan. He completed his university studies in painting in Tehran. In addition to painting, he also studied architecture and has expertise in this field. His supervision of the design and implementation of several projects, including Saei Park, is evidence of this interest and experience. Mahjoubi has held numerous exhibitions both in Iran and abroad, starting in the early 1950s and continuing to this day. This prominent artist has gone through various artistic periods, including paintings of nature, especially horses and trees. Still lifes, portraits, travel memories, and the product of human beings are all collections that Mahjoubi has shown with remarkable power and with different colorization and formal structures throughout his career. It is worth mentioning that his most famous collection is of horses, which, with different backgrounds, have engaged the artist's thoughts. The horse, symbolizing continuous movement and becoming, also signifies instability and motion in Mahjoubi's paintings. Perception of time in verbal languages differs from its perception in paintings, as paintings, with their forms, colors, compositions, lines, and other elements, make it difficult for critics to interpret and understand time. However, Mahjoubi, through elements such as horses, circular, forward, and other types of movement, has managed to challenge the element of time. This is why Mahjoubi, with his mastery of the medium of painting and understanding of its limitations, has turned to studying elements such as time, a difficult area for many painters. Besides horses and their movements, Mahjoubi's mastery of classical painting is also evident in his portraits and still lifes. Considering the above, Mahjoubi's world is a world of movement and contemplation of time, which is why Mahjoubi is considered one of the pioneers and foremost leaders of modern art."
