Shirin Mirjamali
Shirin Mirjamali was born in Tehran in 1983 and holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in painting from the University of Art and Architecture and the Soore University. She also holds an associate degree in graphic design, and the influence of graphic design is evident in several of her paintings on fabric. Mirjamali has participated in a solo exhibition and numerous group exhibitions both domestically and internationally, showcasing her artworks. Mirjamali has not only worked and studied in the field of painting on conventional surfaces such as canvas and cardboard, but her most significant activity has been in the realm of painting and printing on various fabrics. Although printing and painting on fabric have a long and deep-rooted history in both Iranian and world art, and hold particular significance in Iran's traditional arts, Mirjamali creates a new form of expression by updating traditional techniques and utilizing elements of modern and contemporary Iranian art, which can even be considered a type of installation. In fact, several of her fabric-paintings are hung on various metal surfaces, and by disrupting the conventional method of installation or placing paintings on walls, she attempts to bring together the mediums of fabric, installation, and painting. Mirjamali's use of warm colors, softer and thinner fabrics, and their arrangement suggests a transcendence of media boundaries.
