Bahman Rezaei

Bahman Rezaei Nameghi, is an Iranian caricaturist, painter, illustrator, and author of satirical poems. In over 6 decades of professional life, Rezaie has always attempted to turn caricatures into lasting works of art that go beyond depicting a news item or social subject matter. With incessant effort he has always been interested in creating, outside of any predetermined framework or historical stereotype imposed on caricaturists. Due to his experience as a draftsman, “lines” always play a bold role in his work, but he is not satisfied with this one skill, and by adding elements from painting and miniatures to his work he breaks the boundaries and monochrome quality of caricatures and creates new works. He never shied away from learning new art forms at different times, in order to introduce new elements into his work. And thus, with a special elegance, over the years he added things he learned into his work, creating a different world that he presents to the viewer. This is because his mission has been to transform caricatures into works of art that are more than cartoons or satire about a specific topic or news item.
